It is always fantastic to see two great rugby nations going head to head, and even more so when one of those nations is Wales. Unfortunately, Wales have not yet won in South Africa, but there have been some close matches between the two teams over the years.
In 2008, Wales came within a whisker of winning in South Africa, losing by just two points in the second Test match. Wales also put in a strong performance in the first Test, only losing by six points.
In 2012, Wales came even closer to winning in South Africa, losing by just a single point in the second Test match. Wales were leading for much of the match, but a late try from South Africa meant that Wales just missed out on the win.
So, while Wales have not yet won in South Africa, they have come close on a number of occasions. With the two teams set to meet again in 2016, let’s hope that Wales can finally get the win that they deserve.
Wales has not had the best of times when it comes to playing rugby in South Africa. In fact, they have only won four out of the twenty-six matches that they have played against the Springboks. However, there have been some close calls, and the Welsh team will be hoping to turn things around when they take on the Springboks again in November 2019.
